![]() ![]() Oh also your help inspired me to dig into this again and last time the HDR calibration tool wasn't ready, this time it is available and going through the motions there did make it better than it used to be, but I did that before typing up this reply, so all the above still applies I wouldn't take offense if you told me my TV's HDR was crap in the end, i'm poor and can't always get the nicest things, but if I can make this HDR stuff usable that could be nice Also Auto HDR off and HDR Vid Streaming on. It's there with SDR brightness min or max, but at max I can see all kinds of banding on the walls too that isn't there in SDR. (well I mean it's a dark corner, but like it's not all blocky) The upper right corner above his display case back there is just a blob of artifacts when HDR is on and completely beautiful, crisp, 1080p when off. Incidentally this vid happened to be in my feed, and happens to be useful as an example (this alone might stop me from using it, as it makes text ever so slightly harder to read) ![]() I'm not seeing away to remove the grey-ness. I'm guessing this is due to it being SDR content, since I do see improvements in saturation when I turn up the SDR brightness, but like you said that exacerbates the blacks issue. Okay so a couple of things:ġ, your help is appreciated, as this is my first HDR screen so I can't tell if it's good (the TCL branding and Windows reporting it as "Beyond TV" give me little confidence)Ģ, in SDR I can't see the first row, in HDR I can see all of themģ, I forgot how there's like this grey film over everything when HDR's on. Lowering the brightness level of SDR in the HDR windows settings can help. Check this out in both modes to see what I mean. Usually your display tries to manage it but ti's harder with HDR to SDR.īetter your display is at distinguishing black levels worse it can be. This is not windows HDR but a consequence of lower color depth on a high color depth screen. I also have HDR on at all times but I have the SDR brightness set to low. Replayed this one scene 4 times in a row to make sure it was definitely Windows HDR causing it, and well, yea. At first I thought it was a net issue until I got sick of it while watching The Boys and started testing. On Youtube, Netflix, and Prime when I tried Windows HDR i got blocky artifacts in dark areas.
